The Diploma in Surface Mining
is recognised by the WA Dept of Minerals and Energy as the academic requirement
for the WA Quarry Manager's Certificate. There is also a requirement of a
certain number of years of experience in all aspects of open cut mining.
The first year of the Diploma
is the Certificate IV of Surface Mining. This is the academic requirement
for the Restricted Quarry Manager Certificate.
Those
with Engineering or Geology degrees will have exemptions for many modules.
The
following modules are offered, full time or part time, at the Leederville Campus
of Central TAFE
The
cost is approximately $1.35 per hour ($0.85 concession) plus a one-off charge
of $20 per semester
