Course Aim: To provide comprehensive training in the
preparation and measurement of orientated diamond core as a
reliable basis for geotechnical or geological data presentation
and interpretation.
Course Outline:
- Diamond core data collection, representation and
interpretation.
- Introduction to the core orientation process.
- Drillhole supervision and survey.
- Measuring and logging structures.
- Methods of measurement.
- Stereonets concepts.
- Using Stereonets to represent and analyse drillhole data.
- Applications of the Mohr Circle.
A background is given in fundamental concepts associated with
rock-mechanics fracture or failure processes and mineralisation.
With this, the ore-body geometry and style, potential for
extension and possibility of local or regional duplication can be
deduced from the oriented core data.

Job Search Skills
Please come to our monthly meetings on the third Friday each
month. Recruiters are present to give you helpful tips, if not a
job!!! The latest talk topic will be posted on the notice board.
Don't miss Roger Staley's talk on how to create a job for
yourself by marketing and selling your assets. Roger is a
recruiter from Beilby Management. Details: 16 July, 1999 at
Leederville TAFE, 5.00 pm.

Public Speaking
A public speaking course on how to conduct yourself is being
organised. You will be given tips on how to succeed at job
interviews and how to address politicians. Please give us a head
count by sending an email to the course
co-ordinator ASAP. Costs about $100 for one night/week over 6
weeks. At least 10 people to proceed with the course.
